HERE THERE BY TYGERS

Protagonist: The leading character or a major character in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text.
Antagonist:  A person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary.
Conflict:       The struggle the protagonist of a story has; the whole story will be about the protagonist trying to
                    accomplish his/her struggle. Conflict is
either  internal (known as person vs self) or it can be external (person vs person, also person vs
                    environment).

A story must contain a protagonist and a conflict!!

We discussed how the bronze medal Olympian who visited our school last weekend was a perfect example of a growth Mindset, but also he explained how she was a fixed mindset in retrospect about her old coach.

He then asked his students to grab out the 'Here there Be Tygers' worksheet. After that he quickly asked his students to line up in alphabetically order from their name and split the class into four groups. Hea gave each group about three minutes to complete their task, each group was asked to figure out who was the antagonist, the protagonist and what was the conflict in the story and why they thought that? Then on a new page he asked them to write down the answers after Mr Hanlon wrote them up on the blackboard. He then asked his students to write down where was the fear, horror and terror.

He told the students that there were three references to birds: Kenny Griffen, Woody Owl, Miss Bird. Cats (tigers) eat birds which emphasizes the predator-pray relationsip between Charles' mania and his antagonists. Birds act as catalysts to Charles' psychotic tendencies. We then discussed the bathroom/basement theory.
Their ideas were:
- Because Miss Bird is constantly correcting him, to make another problem for Charles.
- Charles has his own basement where he has his psychosis at home.
- What if it just emphasizes that his sense of reality is stewed, he has a hard time separating the two words in his head.
- Maybe its the authors way of telling you there's seriously something wrong with Charles

Homework:
                -Look over notes
                - Make sure all classwork is complete
